ALPC Certificate 2018-19

A massive THANK YOU from the Henderson Hub goes to Abbots Langley Parish Council (ALPC) for once again supporting our running costs.

The amazing sum of £32,000 for 2018/19 reflects their ongoing support of the project since the Henderson Hub company took over the management of the Henderson Hall in 2016.

We are delighted to be working with ALPC to ensure local residents are able to access a refreshed community space, as well as great art projects by both local groups and artists and professional performances from outside the area.

The Henderson Hub is run and managed by volunteers – and we are looking for reliable, enthusiastic people to help with the running of the organisation as we grow our profile and offer across Abbots Langley.

The commitment is varied but is typically a few hours a week, and may involve working with others, attending occasional meetings, working independently planning, sorting out schedules, writing emails and letters etc. It obviously helps to be organised and for some of the posts some knowledge or experience would advantageous, but we will ensure that advice and guidance are given.

The posts below set out the skills we need – but we are flexible about how these are filled – one person might feel able to take on more than one of them or alternatively you might be willing to share a role with a friend or another volunteer.

  • Volunteer Organiser – We rely on volunteers to support many of our activities such as Elvira’s, film and exhibition stewards, building maintenance. We need someone to maintain lists and organise these volunteers.
  • Administrator – to ensure that records are fully maintained, including meeting records, statutory returns, and details of members and supporters.
  • Publicity & Marketing Team Leader – to publicise events and development of the project.
  • Fundraiser – to seek and secure funding for our continuing operation, and future developments.
  • IT Advisor – a project based role to understand the IT needs of the Hub and to set up an easily accessible system for all to use.

Volunteering Opportunities Available Now!


The Henderson Hub is nearing completion and is already holding events staffed by wonderful volunteers, including our recent art exhibition and film events.

Our Foyer bar / tea shop (Elvira’s) will be opening very soon, and we need volunteers to help out for two-hour sessions, Monday to Saturdays (Wednesday and Saturday mornings only).

Duties will not be heavy but will involve helping the smooth running of a refreshments venue and answering any questions our visitors might have.  No washing up required thanks to our wonderful dishwasher!

If you would like to spend that time in convivial surroundings with good company, a free cuppa, and at the same time help the Henderson HUB to thrive then please contact us on the details below.

Herts Open Studios at the ArtHUB


We are delighted that we are one of the host locations for Herts Open Studios this September with no less than six local artists exhibiting their work in the ArtHUB gallery space.

Open every day of the week from 9th – 30th September 2017, you can pop in between 10.00 and 16.00 (Friday only 14.00 – 16.00) to the Henderson Hub on the High Street in Abbots Langley and take a look around – for free!  

There is no obligation to buy anything, but much of the work on display is for sale.

new seatingIt’s here!!!

The new extra-comfy, all singing and dancing, collapsible seating,  Hoorah!  Funded by Three Rivers District Council, the seating not only means a more comfortable experienced for our film, theatre and event audiences, but also a better view.

AND it also collapses to make way for table and chair seating.  Oh, and it can act as a room divider to allow us to host our gallery exhibitions in the hall whilst groups can use the stage end at the same time.

Awesome eh?  If you haven’t had a chance to try out the seats yet, then please do check out what’s on in the next few weeks and give them a whirl.  See you soon!

The Spring 2017 ArtHUB exhibition was a great success, with over 700 people visiting the exhibition and nearly 40 artists exhibiting their work.   Those who attended got to vote on their favourite piece, and so without further ado…. the winner is……

It’s all go at the Hub….


Wow – what a week!  Not only have the builders started knocking through for the new entrance to the building, but we gained our charity status from the Charity Commission!
